A Sense of Misalignment
“Misalignment is caused by placing senses in superiority to your spirituality.”-Ashmita Arora
Internal misalignment, is a feeling carrying a subtle, almost hidden weight, a burden we carry unknowingly, deep within our being. It’s not the kind of misalignment we tend to blame on external forces, not the inconveniences that go against our plans, or the frustrations that may overtake what we feel when things don’t go the way we expected them to. No, this is far more insidious. It’s the misalignment of the soul, the kind of spiritual dissonance that happens when we elevate and place the senses to a throne they were never meant to sit on, allowing them to become the dictators of our reality.
The senses, those five precious windows through which we think connects us to the world, are nothing more than tools. They are instruments, instruments through which we gather data, process the physical world, and build an understanding of our immediate surroundings. Don't confuse these tools for truth.
Think about that. How often do you trust what you see, even though you know that sight is limited by range, light, and perspective? How often do you let what you feel on your skin dictate how you interpret an experience, even though the sensation of touch is but a fraction of the reality surrounding you? We’ve grown dependent on these finite sensors, and in doing so, we’ve lost our connection to our spiritual awareness, the awareness that exists beyond what the senses can measure.
This is where misalignment begins. You begin to confuse the physical for the real, and that’s when your spiritual compass starts spinning in circles, aimlessly searching for direction in a reality it cannot fully comprehend.
You see, the senses are inherently limited. They are conditioned by physical laws, by the constraints of the material world. And yet, your spirit, the essence of who you truly are, is limitless. It transcends these physical constraints. It exists beyond time, beyond space, beyond the narrow field of perception that the senses offer. To place the senses in superiority over your spiritual self is to shrink your experience of reality, to willingly enter into a cage where you mistake the walls for the skyline.
Why do we allow the senses to take charge? Because they tell us that what we see is real, that what we touch is solid, that what we hear is the truth. The mind, craving structure, is all too willing to buy into the lie. It’s easier to believe in the solidity of the world we can sense than to venture into the unknown realms of the spirit, where truth isn’t measured by what you can hold, but by what you can feel in your soul.
And herein lies the great paradox, the more you rely on the senses, the more misaligned you become. You fall out of sync with the deeper, spiritual layers of reality because you’ve chosen the finite over the infinite. The senses bind you to the physical plane, keeping you tethered to the mundane, when in truth, your being is meant to soar across dimensions of understanding that cannot be captured by the eyes, ears, or skin.
The more you lean into the senses, the more you experience a kind of spiritual dissonance. You feel it, don’t you? That undercurrent of discomfort, that sense of something being off, even when everything in your sensory world seems fine. You can achieve success, fulfill desires, and accumulate external markers of happiness, but still, something within you remains unsettled. That’s because success in the sensory world does nothing to feed the spirit. Your spiritual alignment has nothing to do with what you accumulate, and everything to do with your connection to what lies beyond the visible, beyond the tangible.
It’s the emptiness that comes when you’ve chased after all the things the senses promised would make you whole, only to find that you’re still lacking. You have everything, yet you feel nothing. That’s misalignment. That’s the soul crying out, begging for you to look beyond the sensory, to reconnect with the divine essence that doesn’t care about your senses or your physical achievements. It cares about the truth of who you are, truth that can’t be seen, touched, or quantified.
The senses are like mirrors, reflecting back only the surface of reality. But beneath the surface lies an entire universe of spiritual truth, one that is constantly calling you home, calling you to look beyond what the senses tell you, to feel your way into the depths of your being where true understanding lives. This is where realignment begins, in the recognition that what the senses show you is not the full picture. It’s not even a fraction of it. It’s merely a shadow, a reflection of something far greater, far more profound.
Realignment doesn’t happen by rejecting the senses. The focus should turn towards recognizing their place as tools, not truth. You use the senses to navigate the physical world, but you allow your spiritual awareness to guide your journey. You let your spirit be the compass, not your eyes or your ears. As you do this, you begin to live in harmony with the totality of your being. You realign with the truth that exists beyond the physical, and experience life in a way that transcends anything the senses could ever offer. Misalignment was never about what you lacked in the external world, but what you forgot about the internal world.
